A Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) is an exhaust after-treatment component designed to capture particulate matter from gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines.
Unlike a traditional three-way catalytic converter that mainly reduces gaseous emissions such as CO, HC and NOx, a GPF focuses on removing fine particles produced during gasoline combustion.
GPFs use a porous wall-flow ceramic structure to trap particles and release cleaner exhaust gases through a regeneration process.

A Gasoline Particulate Filter is installed in the exhaust system of a gasoline engine, particularly on vehicles using gasoline direct injection technology. Its porous substrate captures fine particulate matter from the exhaust gas while allowing treated exhaust to continue through the system.
As particulate matter accumulates, the filter can regenerate at elevated exhaust temperatures, helping maintain filtration performance and exhaust flow.
